Regional Study on Disclosure of Political Finance
The general objective of the operation is to improve political finance practices in Latin America to increase transparency and accountability and thereby raise public confidence in democractic instituions. The expected results are: a) informed discussions and debate on political finance reform; b) stakeholders will be better positioned to undertake reform of disclosure law and practices; c) Civil society organizations, media and political actors will be more aware of the benefits of disclosure and its relevance for controlling political corruption and strengthening democracy; and d) Tools to measure disclosure will be made available to stakeholders beyond the four countries reviewed in the project, through the production of a practical guidebook based on the project findinds.
