What's new in our Civil Society Engagement Strategy?

The new Strategy contains the vision, objectives and expected results to advance the IDB Group’s development work with governments, the private sector, and civil society.

It reflects and is a result of the inputs received from external and internal sources: Those generated by the Bank’s sectorial and operational specialist teams, as well as inputs received in virtual and in-person public consultations in all of the region’s countries, with over 500 representatives of universities, social enterprises, NGOs, foundations, private companies, and governments.

Information

All actions aimed at capturing and providing information, including those related to the collection of Big Data and open data. The objective is to listen and understand citizens' perceptions and concerns in order to improve decision-making processes, design and execution of policies, strategies and operations; and at the same time provide relevant information that responds to these concerns.

Dialogue

Spaces for face-to-face and virtual exchanges in thematic roundtables, policy dialogues and regional forums, with agendas of shared value that allow to mark progress and share frontier knowledge on development issues.

Consultations

Synchronous and asynchronous, face-to-face and/or virtual public consultations to receive inputs that add value to improve the issue under consultation. They differ from dialogues because consultations respond to specific regulatory and legal frameworks.  More information about our consultations here.

Collaboration

Initiatives to advance common development agendas and share value with universities, expert organizations and groups with territorial knowledge that contribute to support innovations, improve decision-making processes, design and execution of operations and initiatives. The IDB also contributes human capital to development by training CSOs in its Civil Society: Institutional Capacity programme.

Partnership

Initiatives aimed at building partnerships with foundations, philanthropic organizations, local businesses, grassroots organizations and international donors to pool human, financial and open data access resources to multiply positive impacts.
