Implementation of ICES in Santiago de los Caballeros
This Technical Cooperation finances the implementation of IDB's Emerging and Sustainable Cities Initiative (ESCI) for the city of Santiago de los Caballeros, Dominican Republic. The Initiative, approved by the Bank in February 2012, seeks to improve quality of life in emerging cities in Latin America and the Caribbean, by working in 3 sustainability dimensions: environmental and climate change, urban, and fiscal and governance. The support to cities is structured in two phases. In the first phase, a diagnostincs of the city concludes with the preparation of an Action Plan, detailing prioritized intervention. In the second phase, pre-investment projects for the priority areas identified in the Action Plan are financed.
