The IDB president also serves as the institution's legal representative and executive director. Responsibilities include the day-to-day business of the Bank, as well as its operation and administration, with the support of the staff of the Office of the President. In addition, the president chairs the Board of Executive Directors IDB Invest and the Donors Committee of BID Lab.

 

a. Who appoints the president? 
 

The Board of Governors elects the president.

 

b. How does the president work? 
 

The president leads the meetings of the Board of Executive Directors but does not have voting power, except when a tie-breaking vote is required. The president also makes proposals on general IDB policy for the Board's consideration.
