Gerardo Corrochano has more than 30 years of experience in international economic development with an emphasis on private and financial sector development, as well as in consulting and academia. From November 2018 to November 2021 he was Executive Director for Peru at the IDB and IDB Invest, chairing various Board committees. Before joining the IDB Group, Mr. Corrochano held several senior positions at the World Bank Group, including Director of Strategy, Risk, and Results in the Office of the Vice President for Operations Policy (2017-2018), Country Director for Mexico and Colombia based in Mexico City (2014-2017), Sector Director for Finance and Private Sector in the Europe and Central Asia region (2011-2014), as well as Director for Innovation, Technology, and Entrepreneurship, among other positions since joining the World Bank in 1990.

A citizen of Peru, Mr. Corrochano holds a Master of Business Administration (MBA) degree from George Washington University and a Licenciatura in Economics degree from Universidad del Pacífico in Lima, Peru.
