Access to Information (ATI)

The Access to Information Policy is an instrument approved by the IDB’s Board and designed to raise the Bank's standards of transparency to the highest level of international practices, thereby allowing greater accountability in the execution of its projects and activities.

The Access to Information Section (ATI) is located in the Office of the Secretary and is charged with coordinating the implementation activities of the Access to Information Policy at the IDB.

ATI Policy approval – 2011

IDB approved ATI Policy on May 2010, which came into effect in January 2011. Under this framework the Bank reaffirmed its commitment to transparency and accountability, and it set a new standard for disclosure.

Under the IDB’s ATI Policy the Bank has shown significant progress in providing access to information to the public specially on projects and operational issues.

The IDB has consistently improved its performance in disclosing information. Currently, IDB ranked third among 50 development and aid-disbursing organizations assessed in the 2022 Aid Transparency Index, up two notches since 2020, climbing from eleventh place in 2013 and remaining in the highest category.

New ATI Policy Proposal

The IDB is updating its Access to Information Policy to reaffirm its commitment to transparency, strengthen corporate governance, and enhance accountability. The proposal was submitted for public consultation with stakeholders on 2022.
