Energy Transition Program II - Brazil

This technical cooperation (TC) was requested by Empresa de Pesquisa Energética (EPE), the beneficiary. EPE supports the Brazilian Ministry of Mines and Energy (MME) by providing studies and research on energy planning. This TC seeks to build on the work of the Energy Transition Program I (PTE-I) to decarbonize the Brazilian economy by 2050, supporting the second phase, PTE-II.
PTE-II aims to develop sectoral roadmaps through stakeholder forums, focusing on institutional, regulatory, and policy improvements to achieve emissions neutrality and establish Brazil as a global leader in green solutions from 2025 to 2040. The specific objectives of this TC include establishing a stakeholder forum to enhance regulatory frameworks, updating energy transition scenarios, evaluating macroeconomic impacts, and developing the Sectoral Roadmaps 2025/40 to guide Brazil's energy transition and decarbonization initiatives.
