Brazilian Infrastructure Investment Fund (BIIF)

BIIF or InfraBrasil FIP is a closed-end, mixed debt-equity infrastructure investment fund (with assets valued at US$662 million as of September 2012 and expected 15-year life), designed to provide a source of long-term financing in local currency to a market that lacks such resources, thereby contributing to the development of infrastructure in Brazil as well as to its sustainable development. During its investment cycle it financed greenfield, CAPEX and rehabilitation projects throughout Brazil, including transportation, wind, hydro, waste management and water treatment. The IDB supported the Fund disbursing US$52 million of senior loan between 2007 and 2009.
