Inter-American Development Bank will broadcast coverage of its 50th Annual Meeting in Medellín, Colombia

The Inter-American Development Bank will provide free, unrestricted and extensive satellite-broadcast coverage of its Annual Meeting in Medellin, Colombia, from March 25 to 31, to news services and television broadcasters in the Americas.

The IDB is the leading source of multilateral financing for economic and social development projects in Latin America and the Caribbean. Ministers of finance, central bank presidents and other authorities from the IDB 48 member countries attend its Annual Meeting.

A team of reporters and cameras will be on hand to assist foreign news services and Colombian media with specific requests on topics of interest for their audiences. Every effort will be made to accommodate such requests, besides general coverage of statements by participating officials, contract signings and conclusions of meetings.

News releases, photos and video coverage of the events will be available at www.iadb.org

Television

The IDB will provide two daily satellite feeds with reports on issues of general interest and statements by heads of state, ministers of finance, special guests and other officials participating in the meetings.  The reports will be distributed with narration and split audio tracks for easy editing.  Video transcripts and lower 3rd/Chyron information will be available on the Annual Meeting website at www.iadb.org/am/2009  under the “RESOURCES FOR TELEVISION MEDIA” link off the NEWS and TV50 pages.

The daily coverage schedule and content description of each satellite transmission will be posted online and refreshed as news develops.  Coordinates and schedules for key press conferences and events will be publicized on-line, in the same link.

Special requests for interviews can be made directly on our webpage in the “RESOURCES FOR TELEVISION MEDIA” link off the NEWS or TV50 pages.

Press Registration

Members of the media who wish to cover the meetings had to complete the online pre-registration process by March 20, 2009 in our website www.iadb.org. After that date, registration will be on-site as detailed below.

The press pre-registration form may be filled out in our website www.iadb.org.

On arrival in Medellín, registration will take place at the Convention Center with the following schedule:

 

Thursday, 26 March  7:30 a.m. to 6:30 p.m.

Friday, 27 March 8:00 a.m. to 6:30 p.m.

Saturday, 28 March 8:00 a.m. to 6:30 p.m.

Sunday, 29 March 8:00 a.m. to 6:30 p.m.

Monday, 30 March 8:00 a.m. to 5:30 p.m.

At the registration desk, members of the press will be asked to provide the following documentation:

Colombian journalists: Valid photo ID, a letter from their news service stating that they have been assigned to cover the meeting, and the identification card of their news service.

Foreign journalists: Valid passport and press credentials (with photograph) or a letter from their news organization stating that they have been assigned to cover the meeting.

Freelance journalists will NOT be able to participate in the Annual Meeting.
