IDB, Honduras sign $18.8 million loan for roads and water

PARIS -- Honduran Finance Minister Gabriela Núñez de Reyes and Inter-American Development Bank President Enrique V. Iglesias today signed documents for a $18.8 million loan to support the repair and reconstruction of infrastructure damaged by Hurricane Mitch in Honduras.
The signing ceremony took place ahead of the annual meeting of the IDB's Board of Governors, which will be held here next week.
The funds will be used to repair sections of Honduras' principal and secondary road networks and to rebuild or replace bridges in Tegucigalpa and on the highway connecting the capital city with San Pedro Sula.
In addition, Tegucigalpa's drinking-water system will be restored through the supply and installation of piping and equipment.
