IDB elects Board of Executive Directors

The Inter-American Development Bank today announced the election of 13 members of the Board of Executive Directors by 45 country members of the Bank to serve during the period July 1, 1999, to June 30, 2002.

The executive director representing the United States is appointed.

Executive directors are responsible for the conduct of the operations of the Bank, exercising powers delegated to them by the institution's Board of Governors.

The Board will consist of the following members:

Canada - Guy A. Lavigueur

Argentina and Haiti - A. Humberto Petrei

Brazil and Suriname - Daniel Andrade Ribeiro de Oliveira

Dominican Republic and Mexico - Moisés A. Pineda

Panama and Venezuela - Adina Mercedes Bastidas Castillo

Colombia and Peru - Jorge F. Baca Campodónico

Chile and Ecuador- Mario Marcel

Bolivia, Paraguay and Uruguay - Raúl Boada

Belize, Costa Rica, El Salvador, Guatemala, Honduras and Nicaragua - Edgard A. Guerra

The Bahamas, Barbados, Guyana, Jamaica and Trinidad and Tobago - George L. Reid

Belgium, Germany, Israel, Italy, Switzerland and The Netherlands - Bruno Mangiatordi

Croatia, Japan, Portugal, Slovenia and United Kingdom - Toru Kodaki

Austria, Denmark, Finland, France, Norway, Spain and Sweden - Alvaro Rengifo Abbad
