Fiscal Policy for Climate Change: Support to the Ministries of Finance of Latin America and the Caribbean

Develop methodologies and instruments for the Ministries of Finance to incorporate climate action into their fiscal policy and management. The areas of intervention would be prioritized according to demand and may include: (i) development of transition strategies towards low carbon economies and resilient to climate change; (ii) incorporation of the climate dimension in the management of public spending; (iii) application of environmental tax policies; (iv) support for the preparation of climate financing strategies; and (v) strengthening the roles of the Ministries of Finance in matters of climate change. The methodologies and instruments developed in the project will be made available to any interested country given its character as a regional public good.
