Models for Sustainable Indigenous Enterprise on Communal Forest Lands Andes-Amaz

The objective of this project is to provide Amazonian indigenous communities in southern Peru with the tools to sustainably interact with the cash economy while conserving the forests that provide their livelihood and ecosystem services, while also allowing them to maintain their cultural traditions. Specifically, the project will seek to: i) improve territorial planning and management on 105,000 ha of communally owned and managed forest lands; ii) identify and implement a productive model linked to sustainable use of natural resources, including harvest of timber and non-timber forest products, and maintenance of cultural traditions in 8 indigenous communities, iii) build technical, organizational and governance capacity among beneficiary communities to successfully manage indigenous enterprises, and iv) link indigenous enterprises to markets.
